Civic Scholars Program

Calling New York City public high school students: are you interested in learning more about civics and government? Do you want to are you interested in the opportunity to engage with Columbia University's resources and programs? Would you like to positively impact New York City, but are you not sure where to start?

,The Columbia Political Union’s Civic Scholars Program is a virtual civics education program for students at high schools across New York City. The goal of the Civic Scholars Program is to democratize access to key civic and political knowledge with local students, introduce them to Columbia faculty, resources, and opportunities, and motivate them to become involved in government, activism, and civics in their own communities.

The Spring 2022 Civic Scholars program will be run virtually and will be completely free-of-charge for all participating students. The program dates are November 21st, 2022 to December 12th, 2022. The program will meet biweekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

Applications for the program are open now! Applicants will be informed about their acceptance to the program on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
