Civic Scholars Program
Attention all New York City public high school students! Do you have an interest in learning more about civic engagement and government? Or, do you want to learn effective ways to impact the larger New York City community positively and effectively?
The Columbia Political Union’s Civic Scholars Program is an informative and collaborative virtual civics-based education program for high school students like yourselves. Civic Scholars aims to widen access to pivotal civic and political knowledge for local students. In addition, you will have access to globally recognized resources, Columbia faculty, and information on other opportunities both on and off Columbia’s campus in hopes of motivating and engaging you with local/federal governments and your communities through activities and new knowledge
The Spring 2023 Civic Scholars Cohort will be run virtually and is entirely free of charge for individuals accepted into the program. The program will run from late April 2023 to mid June 2023. We will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
We are accepting applications and are excited to learn more about you all! Applicants will be informed about their acceptance to the program roughly a week after the final deadline for submission. But make sure to apply as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about the program, application process, or both, please contact the Columbia Political Union Board at cpu@columbia.edu. We are, once again, excited to hear from you and read your applications!
